AgenaTrader V1.9: InstrumentEscort. Mappings: simple and advanced mode

For importing mappings, starting with version 1.9 of AgenaTrader, there is now the Simple View and the Advanced View.

IMPORTANT! Before you work with the InstrumentEscort, please close all active connections in AgenaTrader!

The simple view

In general, we recommend using the simple mode. In order to import the mappings for a broker or data feed, you simply have to place a check mark next to the desired entry (multiple choice possible) and then click on “Import” in the bottom right. The import process is started and the progress bar shows you how far along the process is.

As soon as you receive the message that the import has been successfully carried out, you can close the InstrumentEscort and work with the new mappings.

The advanced view

In the advanced view, you have several, detailed options for which mappings you would like to import.

First, select the broker/data feed for which you would like to import mappings; in contrast to the simple view, here you cannot select more than one broker/data feed.

For the selected provider, you can now choose which of the provided instrument types you would like to import. Place a check mark next to the desired entries.

After making this selection, you now also have the option to actually choose the individual stock exchanges for which you would like to import the mappings.

The setting for Category is only activated for some providers. Here, for example with TaiPan, you can select which provider should be chosen for the Forex values.

After you have made your selection, click on “Import” in the bottom right. The import process is started and the progress bar shows you how far along the process is.

Generating an instrument list

For the simple and advanced view, there is the feature “Generate instrument list” in the lower part of the window. When you activate this option, before you click on “Import”, all newly imported symbols are arranged into newly created instrument lists. Immediately after the import, you can call up these instrument lists and work and trade with the imported symbols.

If you select the option “Generate per instrument type”, an individual instrument list is created for each imported instrument type; you then receive lists that are arranged according to stocks, futures, currency and CFDs.

If you select the option “Generate per instrument type & exchange”, even more specific lists are created, e.g. stocks Nasdaq, stocks Nyse, futures CBOT, futures Nymex etc.

Under “Max.”, you can set the maximum number of symbols that should be saved in a list before a new list is started. We developed this option in order to avoid you accidentally creating lists with several thousand values, which would cause the performance of your PC to suffer.
